Every credential listed below can be verified at its source registry. The links go to the public databases that issue these credentials. This is the primary mechanism by which patients can confirm what they are told during consultation.

How to verify any plastic surgeon's credentials

Independent verification is the most actionable safety measure available to patients. Every credential listed here can be verified at its source registry. The same approach should be applied to any surgeon you consult:

  1. Make a specific list of every credential the clinic claims for the surgeon.
  2. Verify each independently at the issuing registry.
  3. Identify discrepancies — credentials claimed but not found in registry are a major concern.
  4. Apply the threshold — for rhinoplasty, minimum verifiable credentials should include national plastic surgery specialty certification, one international fellowship (FACS, FEBOPRAS, FRCS), hospital accreditation at JCI or national equivalent, and country-specific medical tourism authorisation if international patient.

The credential threshold for rhinoplasty.
